SHREVEPORT – Centenary will host its third straight home meet March 10 at 6 p.m. as Illinois State and Chicago-Illinois venture to the Gold Dome for a gymnastics meet, which has been dubbed Alumni Night for the Ladies.

“It will be an exciting night with all of the ‘old’ ladies in the house,” head coach Jackie Fain said. “We are certainly expecting a number of alumni to be coming back.”

The Ladies posted their third-best score in the last meet, a 190.775-180.125 win over Springfield College Feb. 25 before having a week off in between the two meets.

“We are coming back from a weekend off competition and are well rested and excited to be competing again,” Fain said. “Everyone is looking forward to having another opportunity to continue to improve our team scores and to be in front of our home crowd.”

Junior Amanda Holt is back to 100 percent and returns to the lineup for Saturday’s after being sidelined for the past month, but senior Melody Smith suffered a mild injury last week. Her status is still undecided. Fain’s confidence in her team’s depth hasn’t wavered.

“We have strong backups on her events and they are ready to step up and fill in for her if needed.”

We are looking to continue our strong showings on vault and floor.”

Fain added that the Ladies may be adding more difficult vault routines, which would help the overall team score.

“We are also looking for improvements on bars and beam this week in order to continue on our road to qualifying for nationals against this year. Both of these groups have been working diligently to improve on those two events.”

Centenary continues its four-game home stretch hosting Kentucky March 17 at 6 p.m. before going to the Midwest Independent Conference Championships March 24 in Chicago, Ill.
