SHREVEPORT – After its strongest showing of the season and one of the best performances in more than half of a decade, the Centenary gymnastics team makes its home finale Saturday against No. 23 Kentucky at 6 p.m.

Centenary will recognize its three seniors, Lauren Carlton, Melody Smith and Stephanie Wright, Saturday night.

The Ladies posted a 193.200 last Saturday, finishing second to Illinois-Chicago at the three-team meet at the Gold Dome. That mark bested the 191.475 score against Texas Women’s, Oklahoma and Utah State Jan. 21.

Kentucky visits on Senior Night, wrapping up the fourth straight home meet for Centenary. Meg Crowley and Robyn Price led the Ladies to the season-best score last weekend as Crowley posted a career-best 9.875 on the floor exercise.

Price set career marks on the bars (9.775), balance beam (9.675) and all-around (38.875). It was only the second time she competed in the all-around.

The Ladies eclipsed season highs in every event, scoring 48.475 on the vault, led by Christy Martinez and Amanda Holt’s 9.750 scores. Stephanie Wright spearheaded the bars with a 9.800 en route to a 47.525 team score while Ciara Maradiaga posted a 9.800 showing on the beam to lead a 48.600 performance by the Ladies. Martinez, Holt and Wright all posted season-high scores in their respective events.

Even with the momentum heading into this weekend’s meet, the Ladies face a talented Kentucky squad that has posted the 23rd-best score in the nation with a 196.025.

Four gymnasts lead the Wildcats on the vault with a 9.85 mark. Storey Morris tops Kentucky on the bars and beam at 9.9 and 9.85, respectively, while Kayla Hartley and Audrey Harrison top the floor exercise at 9.9. Harrison also holds a team-best 39.225 on the all-around.

After this weekend’s meet, Ladies travel to Chicago, Ill., to compete in the Midwest Independent Conference Championships March 24.
