Ladies to host nationally-ranked foe Thursday

SHREVEPORT – Centenary continues its long home stand Thursday afternoon with an American Southwest Conference doubleheader against No. 19 Louisiana College starting at 4 p.m. at the Centenary Softball Complex.

The Ladies (1-21) just missed their first ASC win of the year Tuesday night in a 190-minute, 13-inning 6-5 loss to visiting LeTourneau. Louisiana College is 19-5 on the season and 10-4 in ASC play. The Lady Cats just split a doubleheader with LeTourneau, 5-3, 4-5, March 31.

Louisiana College started the season on a 12-game win streak, but has split its last four doubleheaders heading into Thursday’s contest.

Nicole Warren leads Centenary at the plate with her .290 batting average, followed closely behind by Keya Brandon (.269), Lauren Swift (.250) and Jessica McDonald (.242). Warren leads the team with 20 hits, followed by Swift’s 17 base knocks. McDonald and Kalyn Harris have 16 apiece. Harris also tops the team in slugging percentage (.343), RBIs (10), total bases (23) and doubles (3).

After Thursday’s doubleheader, the Ladies stay at home to host UT-Tyler April 9 at 3 p.m. before taking a break from conference to host Southland Conference member Nicholls State April 11 at 5 p.m.
