SHREVEPORT – The Centenary men’s soccer program will host Tyler Junior College at the Mayo Soccer Complex Saturday at noon for its only spring match.

The Gents have been training for just over a month and head coach David Orr is pleased with his team’s progress.

"After five weeks of training, the Gents are ready to play against an opponent,” he said. “The spring season gives us the opportunity to focus differently than we do in the regular season by increasing our training focus.”

While the spring does give Orr a clearer mindset of his team’s capabilities heading into the fall, he doesn’t rely too heavily on the short slate to determine the potential success.

“The spring season is important; however, success is measured much differently than in the fall season. I’m expecting a good match, which we can take positive feedback from heading into the summer.”

The Gents are off a 13-3-2 season, losing 10 seniors. Centenary won six straight matches to end the season, allowing just one goal in the span, including five consecutive shutouts to close the year.
