SHREVEPORT– Nea Sunila netted her first two goals of the season Monday afternoon as the Lady Pilots won the second annual Mayor’s Cup, 2-0, over Centenary College at the Swamp on the campus of LSUS.

Centenary (0-0)  makes its regular-season debut Sept. 1 at Schreiner at 2 p.m. before a noon contest at Texas Luthern Sept. 3. The Ladies make their debut at Mayo Field against Millsaps College Sept. 9 at 2 p.m.

Sunila put the Lady Pilots (1-1) on the board with a goal off a corner kick in the 15th minute. LSUS’ all-time leading goal scorer Brooke Martin smacked a corner kick off the post, which found Sunila 10 feet off the right side after Ella Galvin controlled the kick to Sunila, who pushed in the shot.

Her second goal came in the 78th minute to push the lead to 2-0. Centenary struggled offensively as LSUS controlled the ball most of the first half. The Ladies’ offense became more aggressive in the second half, but was unable to capitalize.

Four Ladies tallied a shot apiece as the Lady Pilots defense kept Centenary offense at bay most of the game. Freshman Amanda Atwell recorded the only shot on goal for Centenary.
