The Bearded Gents

SHREVEPORT - As the season gets started and in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, the Centenary men’s basketball team has decided to do a little team building in hopes of raising money to support the recovery efforts in the Northeast from the hurricane. “No Shave November” has taken its place with the basketball team, including the coaches.

“I am excited that the guys bought in to doing something like this together in an effort to benefit those in need” said Adam Walsh, who’s entering his third year at the helm. “My dad grew up on Staten Island, so it has been extremely hard for me to watch all of the video of the destruction up there. I hope that we can have a small impact like so many have done from far away after the storms that hit Louisiana so hard in the last seven years.”

The Gents will use “No Shave November” as a chance to seek sponsorships or donations for growing their facial hair. For those that might struggle growing beards, they may be sacrificing some hair off their heads to join in on the fun. The Gents hope to be able to raise $1,000 to go aid the Red Cross in its recovery efforts.

If interested in joining the fun and sponsoring one of the Gents, please touch base with any of them in person or contact Walsh at to make a donation.
