Ladies unable to catch Choctaws

SHREVEPORT – Senior Vashni Sharp-Moore led the ladies with 22 points for the second consecutive game this season in their home opener against the Mississippi College Lady Choctaws. The Centenary Ladies (0-3) put up a tough fight, but the Choctaws (3-1) were able to pull away at the beginning of the second half as Centenary fell 77-61.

Although the Choctaws led throughout the game, Centenary was able to stay within reach until the Choctaws closed the half on a 16-8 run with a score of 38-26 at halftime. The Choctaws carried momentum into the second half and led by as many as 24 points. Centenary was able to pull within 16 points of the Lady Choctaws before falling this afternoon.

Dionecia Warr followed Sharp-Moore in double digits with 11 points, with Brianna Edwards and Rebecca Thompson also contributing 8 points apiece for the Ladies. The Ladies led in rebounds 49-45, with Edwards pulling down 15 of the rebounds to lead the team.

The Lady Choctaws had two players in double digits: Ebony Williams led all scorers with 24 points, and Porche White contributed with 15.

The Centenary Ladies continue on the road Tuesday, November 27 against McNeese State at 5:30pm.
