Gents fall in a battle with McNeese

Lake Charles, LA- The Centenary men’s winning streak was snapped tonight after a close battle with McNeese State, falling 93-62. The Gents maintain a winning record at 3-1, while the McNeese Cowboys are at 2-3 for the season.

The Gents came out with an early lead and were able to stay ahead until the 9 minute mark. They continued to keep the game close, ending the half with a score of 40-30. McNeese scored the first five points of the second half and took a 17 point lead at 50-33 with just over 16 minutes left to play. The Gents struggled from the field, shooting below 40 percent for the first time this season, and were unable to bridge the gap.

Jonathan Blount led the Gents for his fourth consecutive game with 17 points. Simeon Brinkley contributed a personal best for the season with 13 points, along with a personal best 12 points from Tyler Wright.

McNeese hit 52.2 percent of its shots from the field and was 50 percent from the 3-point range, with Desharick Guidry scoring a career high of 22 points to lead the Cowboys.

The Gents will begin SCAC play in their home opener this Friday night against Trinity University at 8pm.
