SHREVEPORT – The Ladies Basketball team will open conference play this weekend against Trinity University and Southwestern University. The games are on Friday and Saturday and both will start at 6 p.m. This is the first time these teams will meet as Centenary begins play in the Southern Collegiate Athletics Conference in its first season.

Centenary (0-4) continues searching for its first win of the season after falling to McNeese Tuesday night this past week. Sophomore Dionecia Warr led the Ladies with 13 points while senior Vashni Sharp-Moore followed with 8.

Trinity enters Friday’s game 2-1 on the season after beating Mary Hardin-Baylor on the road 68-66. Anecia Richardson led all scorers in that game with 23 points.

Preseason favorites, Southwestern University, come into the weekend 3-2 after losing a close one last Sunday to Hardin-Simmons 63-62. Southwestern will play Friday night against Austin College before playing Centenary on Saturday.

Also fans can get in for free at all the home games this Friday and Saturday if you bring a pair of gloves to donate to the Glove Drive. Centenary’s Student Development division is collecting winter gloves to benefit the Shreveport-Bossier Rescue Mission.

Finally for those who can’t make it out to the game, Centenary’s own Chad Nelson and Cameron Hughes will be providing play-by-play audio. The game will be broadcasting from Ustream Centenary Radio for tomorrow’s games at the Gold Dome. Check out the link on the Centenary Athletic website to listen in before gametimes 6 and 8 p.m. Live broadcasts will start 15 minutes prior to each one.
