SHREVEPORT – The Centenary men’s basketball team will play its first home games this Friday and Saturday night at 8 p.m. The Gents (3-1) are also opening conference play against Trinity University and Southwestern University respectively. This is the first time these teams will meet as Centenary begins play in the Southern Collegiate Athletics Conference in its first season.

The Gents enter this weekend looking to get back on track after McNeese State University defeated them 93-62 Tuesday night and snapping their three game winning streak. Junior Jonathan Blount led all Centenary scorers for the fourth game in a row with 17 points. He is averaging 24.5 ppg and has already been awarded SCAC Player of the Week honors earlier this season.

On Friday, Centenary will take on the preseason favorites, Trinity University. The Tigers are 2-3 entering the game after falling to Mary Hardin-Baylor 57-56 in overtime Wednesday night.

Southwestern is coming into the weekend 0-4 and fell this past Tuesday to Wayland Baptist 66-55. The Pirates will take on Austin College Friday before playing at Centenary Saturday night.

Also fans can get in for free at all the home games this Friday and Saturday if you bring a pair of gloves to donate to the Glove Drive. Centenary’s Student Development division is collecting winter gloves to benefit the Shreveport-Bossier Rescue Mission.

Finally for those who can’t make it out to the game, Centenary’s own Chad Nelson and Cameron Hughes will be providing play-by-play audio. The game will be broadcasting from Ustream Centenary Radio for tomorrow’s games at the Gold Dome. Check out the link on the Centenary Athletic website to listen in before gametimes 6 and 8 p.m. Live broadcasts will start 15 minutes prior to each one.
