Ladies unable to stop Southwestern

SHREVEPORT- The Ladies (0-6) were unable to stop Southwestern’s (5-2) offensive game tonight at the Centenary Gold Dome. Although the Ladies outshot the Pirates in three-pointers 47.1 percent to 43.5 percent, the Pirates outshot the Ladies overall from the field at 41.3 percent compared to the Ladies 37 percent.

The Ladies kept the score fairly close for the majority of the first half, giving the Pirates their biggest lead of 11 points with just 37 seconds left. The ladies scored again, ending the half with a score of 45-36. The Ladies continued to struggle in the second half, giving the Pirates as much as a 26 point lead, and ending the game with a score of 95-79.

The Ladies had four players in double digits tonight: Dionecia Warr with a season high 27 points, Vashni Sharp-Moore with 21 points, Brianna Edwards with 15 points, and Caitlyn Gentry also with a season high 10 points. Brianna Edwards also had a game high 14 rebounds.

The Pirates had a good offensive night with their top scorer, Jordan Owens, contributing 34 points. Katelyn Bartell was also in double digits for the Pirates with 13 points.

The Ladies return to action Monday night at 5:30pm against LeTourneau University in the Dome, with the Gents following at 7:30.
