SHREVEPORT- It was an intense game Monday night in the Gold Dome as the Centenary Gents (5-2) faced the LeTourneau Yellowjackets (1-5). A great team effort and last minute- or more specifically last second heroics led to a three-point win for the Gents.

The entire game was a nail-biter with Centenary and LeTourneau trading leads throughout. Jairus Browning and Brett Bell both stepped it up for the Gents scoring 13 points apiece, and Caden Cheramie wasn’t far behind with 9 points. Brett Bell also led the Gents in rebounds for the second consecutive game with 8.

“I would consider this our best effort as a team and our best win as a team so far this season,” said Coach Walsh. “The last two offensive plays of the game and the last few defensive plays were all executed perfectly. I’m very proud that such a young team playing without their lead player was able to pull together and work hard for a win tonight.”

The last offensive play that Coach Walsh was referring to was the quick pass from Simeon Brinkley to Jairus Browning who hit a three-point shot with three seconds left on the clock to win the game.

LeTourneau also had two players in double digits: Josh Thornton with 16 points and Deitrich Williams with 12 points. The Yellowjackets shot 32.7 percent from the field, which was no match for the Gent’s 40 percent. The Yellowjackets were also outscored on total rebounds 41-37.

The Gents return to action this Friday night in an away game against LSU-Shreveport at 7:30pm.
