SHREVEPORT, La – Senior Vashni Sharp-Moore has been stepping up this season as the leader on a young women’s basketball squad. She was recognized this past week by being named Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week by the league office Monday.

A native of Shreveport, the guard is averaging 18.1 points per game for a team high and has had a team high in scoring the last three games. She notched a season high 26 points against LeTourneau last Monday, which also ended up being Centenary’s first win of the year.

She also had a team high 18 points in a loss against LSU-Shreveport in the other game this week. Her combined 44 points in two games this past week were enough to get her recognition for the good week and hard work she’s put in this season.

“Vashni is the only senior and leader on the team,” Ladies Head Coach Kristen Davis said. “You can expect her to work hard in practice, and set a great example for the younger players. She has carried it over to the games too by getting the ball and taking advantage of good scoring opportunities.”

Sharp-Moore also received another honor being named to the D3 Hoops team of the week.

The Ladies continue their road trip next Saturday at University of Dallas at 1 p.m.
