Ladies take Dallas in round two

Irving, Texas- The Ladies add another conference win to their record, defeating the Crusaders (5-3) once again at the University of Dallas. This makes the third win for the Ladies (3-7) in the past four games.

The Ladies jumped out to an early lead and maintained it for most of the first half, leading by as many as 15 points throughout the six minute mark. The Ladies were unable to score for the next five minutes, giving the Crusaders an opportunity to close the gap and end the half only one point behind, with a score of 41-40.

The Ladies continued to trade leads with the Crusaders in the first ten minutes of the second half, but jumped ahead with 9:03 left on the clock and stayed ahead for the remainder of the game. The Ladies won with a close score of 76-74.

The Ladies shot well from the field at 42.3 percent. Sophomore Dionecia Warr, who was just named the SCAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, led the Ladies once more with 23 points and 7 rebounds. Vashni Sharp-Moore added 19 points, while Brianna Edwards and Rebecca Thompson contributed 11 and 10 for the Ladies.

The Crusaders had three players in double digits: Marleyna Bustamante with 24 points, Brooke Hagemann with 17 points, and Christy Allen with 13 points. They also had an impressive 19 offensive rebounds, and 49 total rebounds.

The Ladies continue play against Rhodes College in Birmingham, AL. on December 29.
