Gents unable to clutch a road win

Marshall, TX- The Gents came up short in their game against ETBU this afternoon, falling 68-64. Brett Bell was the leading scorer for the Gents with 15 points and Jonathan Blount and Caden Cheramie contributed 12 and 10 points.

Jairus Browning opened up the game with a layup in the first 30 seconds, but ETBU returned with a three-pointer to give the Tigers a lead at 3-2. A shot by Saro Ntagha followed by a jumper from Jonathan Blount gave the Gents a three point lead, 6-3, at the 16:50 mark. ETBU came back with an 11-2 run, putting the Tigers up by 6 points at 14-8. A layup by Blount at the 5:51 mark would bring the Gents within two, 25-23, but the Tigers were able to close out the half with a score of 41-29.

ETBU took the largest lead of the game in the second half at the 16:53 mark, leading by 17 with a score of 51-34. Centenary returned with a 19-2 run over the next nine minutes to tie the game at 53. The Gents kept the game close for the remainder, but were unable to come out with a win, falling by just four points with a score of 68-64.

Centenary led in total rebounds 40-30, but were outshot from the field 44.6 percent to 39.3 percent. ETBU had only two players in double digits, Erby Thompson with 13 points and Jaron Joseph with 10 points.

The Gents return to conference play against Austin College in the Gold Dome this Saturday at 5pm.
