­SHREVEPORT, La. – The Centenary men’s and women’s basketball programs open a five-game, conference, road swing on Saturday, Jan. 26 as the squads travel to Austin College. The Ladies open the doubleheader at 3 p.m. with the Gents following at 5 p.m. at Hughey Gymnasium.

Both squads seek wins after dropping contests to Dallas on Saturday, Jan. 19. The Ladies were edged by the Hilltoppers (86-83) after the Maroon and White turned back Colorado College, snapping a six-game, skid the night prior. The Gents look to end a three-game, losing streak and take the season series against the Roos after holding off AC earlier this season in the Gold Dome.

The Ladies, who look to avenge a 66-58 setback to AC, boast two of the top five leading scorers in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference with Vashni Sharp-Moore and Dionecia Warr. Sharp-Moore leads the conference averaging 19.9 points per game while Warr ranks fourth with 16.9 points per game.

The duo joins Brianna Edwards among the top rebounders in the SCAC. Edwards, a native of Shreveport, La., is second in the conference in boards with 9.0 per contest. Sharp-Moore and Warr stand sixth and eighth respectively with 7.5 and 7.2 rebounds per outing.

Austin College enters the contest having won its last two outings with wins over Dallas (60-50) and Colorado College (61-49). Erin Riley stands as the only Roos’ player in double figures with 10.8 per game – a mark that ranks 11th in the conference – while Brooke Melton paces the way on the glass averaging 7.4 rebounds – seventh in the conference.

The Gents tout the conference’s leading scorer in Jonathan Blount. The Shreveport, La., native is averages 22.1 points per game for the Maroon and White and stands as the lone player in double figures.

Donovan Williams, who sits as the top rebounder for Centenary, ranks ninth in the SCAC with 5.1 boards per game. Caden Cheramie is averaging 4.6 on the campaign which ranks him just outside the top 10 in the conference in a tie for 11th. The Galliano, La., product has produced more over the past four contests standing as the leading rebounder in three of the last four outings.

The Roos enter the weekend action having snapped a six-game, losing streak with a 72-61 decision on Sunday, Jan. 20 against Colorado College. Antoine Thompson ranks among the conference’s leaders in scoring sitting ninth with 10.1 points per game. Ransom Okpala and Alen Michael sit 11th and 12th respectively in scoring with 9.5 and 9.0 points per game.  Michael and Thompson along with Walter Phillips are among the top 10 rebounders in the conference with Michael leading the way at 6.7 per contest and third in the SCAC. Thompson ranks eighth with 5.2 boards and Phillips sits in 10th with 4.8 per game.

Centenary continues its road swing the following weekend against Southwestern on Friday, Feb. 1. The Ladies tip at 6 p.m. with the Gents following at 8 p.m.
