SHERMAN, Texas – The Centenary women’s basketball team picked up its second victory in the last three outings with a 65-54 win at Austin College on Saturday afternoon.

Vashni Sharp-Moore led the way for the Ladies with 18 points. The senior also dished out a team-best eight assists in the road win. Dionecia Warr added 17 points for the Maroon and White while Brianna Edwards posted 10 points to go along with her team-leading eight rebounds.

Centenary led all, but four minutes of the contest en route to its fourth SCAC win and fifth overall. AC falls to 9-11 overall and 3-7 in conference play.

The Ladies opened the game with an early 6-0 run, but the Roos answered back to tie the game at 8-all on a 3-pointer by Erin Riley. Riley drained a second trey to put AC in front for the first time in the contest at 11-8 with 12:47 remaining in the first half.

The Roos held the lead until the 8:45 mark when a Rhonda Martin 3-pointer found the bottom of the net placing Centenary back in front at 15-14 and the Ladies’ never trailed the remainder of the contest.

CC shot 42.4 percent from the field in the opening half and finished the contest connecting on 23 of its 39 shots on the night.

The Maroon and White opened the second half with a quick five points to push the lead out to 13 points before reaching its largest lead of 16 points with 10:42 remaining in the contest on a Sharp-Moore jumper.

AC nipped the lead to as few as five points late in the contest, but 5 straight points from Warr pushed the lead back out to double digits as the Ladies cruised the rest of the way.

Brittany Stepanski led the Roos with a double-double 17 points and 14 rebounds. Riley finished the contest with 15 points.

Centenary returns to action on Friday, Feb. 1 at Southwestern. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
