SHERMAN, Texas – Jonathan Blount posted a game-best 25 points as the Centenary men’s basketball team dropped a 91-78 decision on Saturday evening at Austin College. The setback sets the Gents back to 7-11 overall and 3-7 in the SCAC.

Donovan Williams joined Blount in double figures adding 13 points along with a team-leading 8 rebounds in the effort.

The Gents, who shot 41.7 percent from the field in the contest, garnered 21 points off of 15 Roo miscues, but it wasn’t enough to snap a four-game skid.

The Maroon and White grabbed its first lead of the game at the 15-minute mark of the opening stanza on a Blount 3-pointer. The margin held until the 4:48 mark of the half when Jordan Hancock grabbed 2 of his 18 points on a layup placing AC up 36-34. The Roos never trailed again in the contest leading by seven at the break before reaching their largest lead of 21 points with just over a minute to play in the contest.

Six players scored in double-digits for AC led by Hancock and Alen Michael’s 18 points. Michael also pulled down 12 boards for a double-double on the evening. Antoine Thompson logged 13 points while Ransom Okpala added 12. Andre Bryant and Walter Phillips rounded out the double figure scorers with 11 and 10 points respectively.

Centenary returns to action on Friday, Feb. 1 at Southwestern. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m.
