Ladies, Gents claim wins at Louisiana College

PINEVILLE, La. – The Centenary men’s and women’s tennis programs picked up their first wins of the 2013 season at Louisiana College on Saturday afternoon. The Ladies equaled their record by sweeping the Lady Wildacts, 9-0. The Gents 7-2 win comes in its first contest on the campaign.

The Ladies took the singles’ points in impressive fashion to close out their meeting with LC, including a 6-0, 6-0 sweep victory by Katie Cornwell in the No. 3. Cornwell and teammate Katelyn Alexander claimed their doubles contest at 8-1 over their Lady Wildcat counterpoints.

The team of Madelyn Mull and Holly Clark grabbed a win at 8-4 in the top doubles spot while Rachel Grinnell and Lauren Beurlot finished doubles action with an 8-3 victory.

Sarah Wilkes concluded the singles action for the Ladies with a 6-2, 6-0 win in the No. 6 slot.

The Gents picked up two wins in doubles action and claimed five of the six singles contests en route to their win.

The team of Machael Reeks and Garrett Whipple swept the Wildcat team in the top doubles spot, 8-0. Anthony McMasters and Cameon Beuche claimed the second doubles position with an 8-3 win.

McMasters (6-0, 6-0), Whipple (6-1, 6-0) and Reeks (6-1, 6-1) each claimed singles victories as well. Jordan Sangalli claimed the fifth singles spot with a score of 6-3, 6-3 followed by a 8-6, 6-1 victory by Adam Ghaemmaghami in the sixth spot.

Centenary returns to action on Tuesday, Feb. 5 against LeTourneau at 2 p.m. The contest is the first of five home outings for the Ladies while it’s the first of two home contests for the Gents.
