Winston leads Gents in win

BOSSIER CITY, La. – Zander Winston led the Centenary men’s golf team to a win over Texas A&M Texarkana to open the 2013 season. Winston posted a score of 69 to occupy the top spot as the Gents tallied a score of 306.

Behind Winston the Maroon and White claimed four of the five top scores en route to the win. Hank Strickler finished second with a score of 76 with Jamie Gibson in third with an 80. Andres Forese rounded out the top Gent golfers with a score 81.

The top finisher for the Eagles, who scored a 349, was Zach Looney with a score of 86. Simian Klopper registered a score of 87 while Tyler Norton, Logan Byrd and Cody Lewis each posted an 88.

John Sidery and Christ Cates each scored as individuals. Sidery recorded a 93 with Cates tallying a 102.

Centenary returns to action on Sunday, March 3 as the Gents take part in the Mississippi College Spring Invitational. The three-day event, which will be held at the Black Bear Golf Club in Delhi, La., concludes on Tuesday, March 5. All three rounds are scheduled to begin at 8 a.m.
