SHREVEPORT, La – The Centenary baseball team split a doubleheader with Jarvis Christian on Wednesday afternoon at Shehee Stadium. The Gents claimed the opening contest 6-1, but fell in the nightcap 4-3 after a late-inning, Bulldog rally.

Christian Sebastien and Marc Martinez stood as the only Gents with multiple hits –both logging theirs in the first contest. Centenary posted nine hits in the contest.

The Maroon and White posted three runs in the third inning to take command in the opener; unlocking a 1-all tie. After Sebastien drove in Martinez to break the deadlock, Jerami James drove in Sebastien and Tyler Clakley to conclude the scoring in the third frame.

The Gents plated a run in the following two innings to pad its lead and capture the home opener.

Holden Novak (1-0) claimed the win tossing 2.0 innings. Novak fanned three batters while allowing three hits in action.

Cole Thompson pitched an inning in the start allowing the only JC run while surrendering three hits. Chase Clarke and Taylor Henry each logged a pair of innings on the bump with a combined five strikeouts and two hits allowed.

In the second outing, the Gents again tallied three runs in the third inning to capture the lead while posting two hits. The hits marked the only ones in the contest for the Maroon and White. Craig Littleman and Ben Schweinfurth each logged the hits as Littleman drove in a run; one of only two RBI in the affair for Centenary. Matt Cream registered the other RBI for the Gents on a sacrifice bunt. Schweinfurth capped the scoring crossing the dish on a passed ball.

Edwin Torres scored two of the Bulldogs three runs in the sixth to answer Centenary. Sean Coleman pulled LC within a run with a double to center field to plate Shaquille Thomas.

Grady Flournoy (1-1) was saddled with the loss for the Gents with 2.0 innings of work. Flournoy allowed three runs on two hits while registering a strikeout.

Centenary returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 16 as the Gents open conference play with a three-game series at Southwestern. First pitch of Saturday's doubleheader is scheduled for 1 p.m. with the Sunday finale also tabbed for 1 p.m.
