Ladies, Gents continue to impress at SCAC Championships

ROCKWALL, Texas – The Centenary swim teams continue to impress at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships. The Ladies are Gents are both third after day three of the event.  Hayley Schneider, Michael Schwandt and Austin Butler each claimed event wins.

Schneider swam the second fastest time in SCAC Championships history in the women’s 100 fly with a time of 57.04. The Colony, Texas, native joined Rachel Olson, Michelle Gaubert and Daniela Ruelas in the 200 medley relay. The team posted a time of 1:49.59 for second place.

Schwandt recorded a time of 51.29 in the men’s 100 backstroke edging Ross Olivier in second with a time of 51.32. Earlier in the day the duo broke the 12-year old SCAC record in the event’s prelims with the times of 51.01 and 51.13 respecitvely.

Butler rounded out the event champions in the 200 free with a time of 1:42.00.

After three days, the Ladies have tallied 406 points behind Trinity in first with a score of 778.5. Colorado College stands second with a score of 576.5. The Gents have recorded a score of 476 behind Trinity in first with a score of 744.5 with Colorado College in second with a score of 598.5.

The SCAC Championships conclude on Saturday, Feb. 16. Events start at 10:30 a.m.
