Ladies split Saturday, Gents defeat Louisiana College

SHREVEPORT, La. – The Centenary tennis teams returned to the court on Saturday afternoon. The Ladies logged an 8-1 win over Louisiana College to split a pair of contests with the Gents downed the Wildcats 6-3. The Ladies dropped a 7-2 contest to Division II Henderson State earlier in the day.

The Gents picked up a pair of doubles points before taking four singles points en route to the win. The team of Michael Reeks and Garrett Whipple logged an 8-0 victory followed by Anthony McMaster and Cameon Bueche taking an 8-3 victory.

McMaster (6-0, 6-0), Whipple (6-0, 6-3) and Reeks (6-2, 6-1) each claimed singles wins while Jordan Ssangalli earned the fourth singles victory outlasting his Wildcat counterpart 6-4, 6-2 in the sixth singles slot.

The Ladies claimed five of the six singles spots after sweeping all three doubles points.

Madelyn Mull, Lauren Beurlot, Katie Cornwell and Katelyn Alexander all swept through their Lady Wildcat opposition 6-0, 6-0. Holly Clark claimed the eighth victory with a 6-0, 6-2 win in the No. 5 singles spot.

Against HSU to start the day, Mull and Alexander were the only two Ladies to take wins with both coming in singles action. Mull registered a 7-5, 3-6, 6-4 victory while Alexander picked up a 6-4, 6-2 win.

The Ladies return to action on Feb. 20 against LSU-Shreveport followed by a match against Millsaps on Feb. 22. The Gents also return to the court on Feb. 22 with matches against Millsaps and Huntington.
