SHREVEPORT, La – The Centenary baseball team moved its win streak out to five games with a 5-1 victory over Hendrix. The win secures a series win over the Warriors as the Maroon and White moves to 7-2 on the season.

Marc Martinez and Tyler Clakley each recorded multiple hits in the contest combining for half the Gents’ hits. Martinez went 2-for-4 at the dish with two runs scored while Clakley was 2-for-3 with a run scored and a RBI.

Christian Sebastien, Craig Littleman, Taylor Henry and Nic Parrott each tallied a hit in the affair with Ben Schweinfurth and Louis Gonzalez recording a RBI.

Parrott logged the win on the hill. The junior pitched three innings in relief tallying a strikeout, walk and allowing a run on five hits.

Taylor Henry recorded a save on the bump pitching the final three innings for the Maroon and White fanning three batters with a walk and hit allowed.

Centenary jumped on the board scoring two runs in the first inning. Clakley drove in the first run with a single to left field plating Ryan Gasporra who reached on an error earlier in the inning. The second run of the frame came as Martinez scooted across the dish on a passed ball.

The Maroon and White added a run in the fourth and fifth innings to increase its lead before the Warriors added their only run in the sixth inning.

Schweinfurth drove in the run in the fourth for the Gents on a fielder’s choice that scored Sebastien. Martinez stood as the run in the fifth inning scoring on a Warrior fielding error.

A Charlie St. Clair RBI-single in the sixth led to the Hendrix run.

The Gents answered the run with one of their own in the eighth as Clakley scored on a Gonzalez sacrifice fly.

Warrior starter Nick Land was saddled with the loss pitching six innings and giving up four runs on six hits with five strikeouts and a pair of walks.

Gent starter Paul Arecement tossed 2.2 innings in the start for the Maroon and White giving up three hits with a walk and strikeout. Trey Guiccione pitched a third of an inning for the Gents allowing two runs.

Centenary returns to action on Sunday, Feb. 24 to close out the series. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
