SHREVEPORT, La. – Ross Olivier and Michael Schwandt played huge roles in the success of the Centenary swim team at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship with Olivier being named the Male Swimmer of the Meet. The duo each broke the SCAC record in the men’s 100 backstroke with Schwandt claiming the event title and Olivier finishing second. Olivier followed that with a record-setting performance in the 200 backstroke to win the event. The New Iberia, La., native also claimed the men’s 200 individual medley. Schwandt also finished second in the 200 backstroke. “Our swimmers did a great job,” head coach Butch Jordan. “The men's backstroke events were our strongest events all year led my Michael Schwandt and Ross Olivier. It was great that each of them got a conference record with Michael’s in the 100 and Ross’ in the 200. The one two finishes were special. Ross and Michael worked very hard all year and they earned their wins and records. Ross winning the 200 IM was the difference in him and Michael for the SCAC Men's Swimmer of the Meet.” Centenary finished third in the SCAC Championships with 665 points.
