Gents, Ladies take 5-4 wins over Schreiner

SHREVEPORT, La. –The Centenary tennis teams picked a 5-4 wins over Schreiner on Monday evening. The Gents improved to 3-4 on the season while the Ladies move to 6-4.

Each team grabbed a pair of doubles wins and staked claim to three singles victories en route to the wins.

Katie Cornwell, Katelyn Alexander and Lauren Beurlot recorded wins in singles and doubles play. Cornwell and Alexander teamed up for a 9-7 win while Beurlot joined Anna D’Angelo for an 8-6 win over their Mountaineer counterparts. Alexander posted a 6-0, 6-0 sweep in her singles win. Cornwell was taken to three sets before claiming her win at 6-2, 5-7, 12-10 over Karyn Swink. Beurlot posted a straight 6-3, 6-3 win.

Michael Reeks, Garrett Whipple and Anthony McMaster also claimed doubles and singles wins. The team of Reeks and Whipple dispatched over their SU counterparts 8-3 before claiming 6-0, 6-1 and 6-3, 6-0 decisions respectively in singles action. McMaster, who won the singles top spot 6-2, 6-4, teamed with Adam Ghaemmaghami for an 8-6 win in doubles.

Centenary returns to action on Thursday, Mar. 21 at Salisbury University.
