SHREVEPORT, La – The Centenary softball team dropped both games in a doubleheader to University of Houston-Victoria 16-2 and 12-0 on Friday afternoon. Centenary falls to 1-15 after the setbacks, while UHV improves to 5-15.

In game one, UHV scored four runs in the first inning and added two in the second to build an early lead. The Ladies got on the board in the fourth inning with a pair of runs. Back-to-back singles by Cadie Hancock and Lauren Swift set the table for an RBI fielder’s choice by Caitlyn Gentry. Erin Crites followed with a sacrifice fly out to plate Swift.

Hancock and Swift picked up two hits each for the Maroon and White. Nicole Warren and Jessica McDonald also tallied hits in the contest.  

UHV was led offensively by Marley Moehrig, who had a perfect 3-for-3 day, including a homerun and five RBI. Brittany Arrendondo had a 4-for-4 game, while Krissa Powell and Isabella Soto went 2-for-3. Powell was the other Jaguar to notch multiple RBI with three.

Lindsey Sconce was saddled with the loss, pitching 5.0 innings and surrendering 12 earned runs.

Alex Holland notched the win tossing 5.0 innings and allowing an earned run on six hits.

The Jaguars opened game two by scoring a run in the first two innings. A four-run third inning extended the lead for UHV to gain a 6-0 advantage.

Nicole Warren, Lauren Swift, and Lindsey Sconce picked up hits in the defeat.

Jena West, Casey Sax, Ashley Shannon, Isabella Soto, Moehrig, and Arrendondo recorded multi-hit games all banging out two apiece. West and Sax led UHV with 3 RBI and Trevino had a homerun and 2 RBI in the victory.

Lynsi Unruh was the losing pitcher in the circle for the Maroon and White. The righty tossed 5.0 innings and allowed six earned runs on fifteen hits, walked two and struck out one.

Alicia Fikac picked up a win for UHV, tossing 5.0 innings and allowing no runs, 3 hits, walking one and striking out two.

Centenary continues its home stretch with a doubleheader slated Monday, March 18 beginning at 4 p.m. against Hendrix College.
