SHREVEPORT, La. – After claiming its fourth Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference series over the weekend, the Centenary baseball team returns to the diamond in non-conference play with a doubleheader against Texas College. First pitch is slated for 4 p.m. at Shehee Stadium.

The Gents stand 15-5 on the season and 9-3 in conference play.

Tuesday’s action the first of six contests at home for the Maroon and White which will host North Central College on Wednesday before returning its attention to conference play and Southwestern.

Over last week, Tyler Clakley in 17 plate appearance pounded out a team-best nine hits on the week and tied for the top spot on the squad with six RBI.

Jemari James continues to pace the Gents at the plate with a .444 batting average. The hitting clip ranks second in the league while Craig Littleman is tabbed in the third spot in the conference with a .406 average at the dish. Clakley leads the squad in RBI with 20 on the season which ranks third in the SCAC.

On the mound, a pair of Gents logged complete-game wins. Layton Tromba and Cole Thompson each went the distance for the Maroon and White against AC. Thompson led the hurlers with 10 strikeouts while Tromba garnered a 1.29 ERA – the lowest of any pitcher that tossed more than two innings on the week. Tromba surrendered just six hits in the outing and one run. The complete-game victory for Tromba marked the fifth on the season which leads the conference.

The Maroon and White boast three of the top five best pitchers in the conference ranked by ERA with Taylor Henry ranked second with a 1.72 average. Paul Arcement ranks third (2.25) with Tromba fifth (3.05). Thompson paces the Gents in strikeouts with 35 – second in the SCAC.

Wednesday’s start time against North Central is scheduled for 3 p.m.
