SHREVEPORT, La. – The 25th-ranked Centenary baseball team recorded a season-high in runs en route to pounding Southwestern 24-10 on Saturday afternoon at Shehee Stadium. The Gents improved to 17-7 overall and 10-3 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

The Maroon and White missed tying its season mark by one hit logging 17 in the contest.

The Gents used a pair of eight run innings to surge the scoring onslaught – plating runs in six of their seven trips to the plate. Centenary also capitalized on eight Pirate errors to assist in the scoring.

Craig Littleman and Christian Sebastien led the Gents at the dish with four hits each while Matt Creamer and (3-for-4) and Tyler Clakley (2-for-4) also tallied multi-hit performances. Clakley and Littleman also paced the squad with RBI as Clakley led the way with five and Littleman drove in four runs.

Layton Tromba (4-2) took the win on the mound with 5.0 innings pitched and allowing just one earned run and fanning two hitters. The right-handed hurler forced a combined 12 fly outs and ground outs – six each - in the decision.

Chase Clarke and Matt Posey combined for the final two innings of work for the Gents.

Centenary recorded five doubles in the and a triple in the contest as Sebastien claimed two extra base hits in the his four-hit effort.

The Gents plated 10 runs in their first two at-bats, including an eight-run, first inning, before the Pirates plated its first set of runs in the top of the fourth.

Centenary closes out the series with Southwestern on Sunday, Mar. 24 at 1 p.m. at Shehee Stadium.
