SHREVEPORT, La. – The No. 26 Centenary baseball team prepares for a three-game series this weekend at the University of Texas at Tyler. The series opens on Friday, April 5th at 6 p.m. and closes with a Saturday doubleheader slated for 2 p.m.

The weekend series pits two teams ranked nationally in the top 30 against each other. The Patriots enter ranked 11th in the ABCA/Collegiate Baseball NCAA Division III poll.

The Gents boast a pair of hitters ranked in the top two spots in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference led by Jemari James’ .438 clip at the dish. Craig Littleman ranks second with a .420 average. Tyler Clakley sits just outside the top hitters in the conference with a .339 average at the plate.

Clakley and Littleman also rank among the top five in the league in RBI with Clakley ranked second with 32 and Littleman third with 28 on the season.

The trio of Cole Thompson, Layton Tromba and Taylor Henry anchor a stellar pitching staff for the Maroon and White. Tromba, the Gents’ leader in wins with five, and Henry rank among the leaders in ERA with a 2.59 and 2.92 respectively while Thompson paces the squad in strikeouts with 40 which ranks fourth in the SCAC.

Kevan House guides UT-Tyler into the weekend clash batting .364 on the season and is tied for the team lead in hits with 36 on the season. House ranks second on the squad with 22 RBI behind Isaac Tijerina’s team-best 30 on the campaign.

Jordan Marsh pilots a pitching staff with a team leading six wins on the year and a 1.59 ERA. Chance Cotton – the team’s leader in strikeouts with 53 – has compiled five wins on the season while Jack Barkley, who’s tied with Cotton in wins – has logged 44 innings on the bump which ranks second on the team behind his Cotton.

The weekend’s action concludes a season-long, six-game, road swing for the Gents.

Centenary returns to Shehee Stadium on Saturday, Apr. 13 against Austin College. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m.
