Both Tennis teams drop matches to Southwestern

DALLAS, Texas – The Centenary tennis teams both fell 8-1 to Southwestern University on Sunday afternoon. The men’s tennis team drops to 3-7 an is on a three game slide. On the women’s side, Centenary (7-6) has gone .500 at 3-3 in its last six matches.

Coming off a 6-3 victory over East Texas Baptist Saturday evening, the Ladies were unable to get much momentum, claiming its only point in the doubles competition. Katelyn Alexander and Katie Cornwell teamed up to defeat Southwestern’s pair 8-2.

In the singles matches, Alexander (6-3, 6-4) had the closest sets combined, while Holly Clark (7-5, 6-0) dropped the first set in a tie-breaker.

The Gents picked up the lone point in a singles match with Michael Reeks (6-3, 6-7, 10-7) defeating Egan Cornachione. The Shreveport, La., native also teamed up with Adam Ghaemmaghami in the doubles competition, falling 8-6 in the closest defeat.

Both teams return to the court hosting Millsaps on Saturday, Apr. 20 at 12 p.m.
