SHREVEPORT, La – The Centenary Softball team will be back on the field Wednesday, Apr. 10 at 5 p.m. hosting a doubleheader against the University of Dallas. These games are the first pair of a rescheduled doubleheader that was originally set to play at Irving, Texas two weekends ago.

The Ladies (4-24, 3-5 SCAC) are coming off a series split with Austin College University. Their victories included a 6-4 showing in game one, and 1-0 win to conclude the four game set. The Maroon and White have played its last 11 contests in the confines of the Centenary Softball Complex.

Not many hits were recorded in the last four games, but the Ladies did have timely ones to capture the wins. They opened game one with a six-run first inning, which matched a season-high for runs in an inning. In the finale, Lauren Swift led off the fourth with a double and was the deciding run as she was driven in by Erin Crites.

It was a pitching duel, as Lynsi Unruh tossed a complete game shutout. The Houston, Texas native threw 7.0 complete innings of scoreless ball and gave up four hits. It was her first shutout of her career, and the first for the Ladies since Lauren Highsmith threw one in 2011.

Swift remains the team leader in batting with a .437 average. She is still tied with Cadie Hancock in run production at four homeruns and 13 RBI. Unruh is second on the team with a .286 average. Emma Viskozki and Crites had key RBI this past weekend and are now even with six on the year.

The Crusaiders (1-21, 0-8 SCAC) enter Wednesday on a 17 game slide and in search of their first conference win. They have been on the road since Mar. 3 and most recently dropped a four game series at Southwestern.

Centenary is on the road this weekend with a non-conference doubleheader at the University of Houston-Victoria on Friday, Apr. 12 at 1 p.m. This opens an eight game trip that continues the next two days Apr. 13-14 at Trinity University.
