SHERVEPORT, La. – The Centenary baseball team dropped a 10-2 decision on Wednesday evening to cross-town foe Louisiana State University-Shreveport. Centenary falls to 24-10 on the season while the Pilots improve to 32-15.

The Gents struggled at the dish against LSUS starter Ben Suit. The New Iberia, La., native allowed just two hits through five innings of work while fanning eight batters in the outing.

Ryan Gasporra proved one of the highlights at the dish with three hits. Jemari James added a pair of knocks for the Maroon and White including driving in one of the two Gents’ runs in the eighth. Tyler Clakley logged the first RBI in the frame on his only hit of the contest that scored Matt Creamer. James’ single plated Gasporra for the final run.

Holden Novak (3-1) suffered his first loss of the season managing two innings of work in the start. The Coppell, Texas product allowed four runs on four hits, including a pair of solo homeruns.

The Pilots saw three of their first four hitters reach base in their first trip to the plate. K.J. Semien scored the first run with a double to left field and one batter later Brandon Cooksey hit a two-run, homer to put the Pilots up 3-0. Kyle Pearson added the second homerun of the night to lead off the third inning. LSUS added two runs in the fourth, fifth and seventh to insure the win.

Centenary takes to the road for three games to finish out the regular season beginning with two, Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference outings at the University of Dallas over the weekend. First pitch for both contests at UD are scheduled for 1 p.m.
