Clakley, Gasporra, Parrott, Arcement named to SCAC All-Tournament Team

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – Centenary placed four baseball players on the 2013 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference All-Tournament Team, announced by the conference office on Wednesday. The four nods were second among conference members behind SCAC Champion Trinity’s eight recipients.

Outfielder Tyler Clakley led the way for the Gents as one of three unanimous selections to the team that was voted on by the conference’s head coaches. The Tyler, Texas, native hit .529 in four games. The senior drove in eight runs and tallied a triple, homerun and three walks.  

Joining Clakley on the team was catcher Ryan Gasporra, outfielder Nic Parrott and pitcher Paul Arcement.

Gasporra hits .471 for the tournament with a pair of doubles, six runs scored and five RBI as the senior from Palm Dale, California tallied an on-base percentage of .545.

Parrott, a product of Atlanta, Texas, hit .400 for the four games with five RBI, and four runs scored. Of his six hits, two went for extra bases for the junior with a double and triple.

Arcement, the SCAC Co-Freshman of the Year, posted a 1-0 record in his time on the hill. The Shreveport, La., native tossed seven, scoreless-innings with four strikeouts in a 14-0 decision over the University of Dallas. Arcement held the Crusaders to a .130 batting average.

Clakley, Gasporra and Arcecement were among 10 Gents named to the All-SCAC Team prior to the championships in Georgetown, Texas.

Centenary finished the season with a 26-15 record and runner-up in the SCAC Baseball Championship.
