Ladies' gymnastics adds quartet

SHREVEPORT, La. – Centenary women’s gymnastics coach Jackie Fain announced that Allison Scates, Megan Frazzini, Jordan Anderson and Hannah Dee Smith completed the necessary paperwork and deposit with intent to attend Centenary College of Louisiana.

“This incoming group of Ladies is an amazing recruiting class for Centenary. They are all strong students and in total, will come in and make an impact on all four events for us.,” said the 2013 Midwest Independent Coach of the Year. “Our graduating seniors have left some big shoes to fill, and I am excited to have this group of young women bring their enthusiasm and commitment to our campus.  They will contribute to the depth of the team, they will be an exciting group for our fans to watch on the competition floor and they will be an asset to the future of Centenary gymnastics.  Their eagerness to make this team better will be contagious to the returning athletes, and I am anxious for them to arrive here on campus.”

Scates comes to Centenary from Harmony School of Advancement in Houston, Texas. In 2012, Scates finished 15th in all-around at the Level 10 Texas State Championships. She also recorded a second place finish on the beam and fifth in all around at the Houston National Invitational and second in all-around and floor at the Alamo Classic. Scates also qualified for the 2012 Region 3 Level 10 Championships and 2010 Western Championships. Scates is a member of Bannon’s Gymnastix.

Frazzini is a native of Aurora, Colorado where she attended Cherokee Trail High School. This past season she placed second on vault at the Level 10 Colorado State Championships, sixth on floor at the Regional 3 Championships and eighth in all-around at the Region 3 Championships. Frazzini is also a four-time regional qualifier and a 2013 Junior National Invitational Tournament qualifier. Frazzini is a member of Colorado Gymnastics Institute.

Anderson is a Wylie, Texas, native. Anderson, this past season, finished fourth in all-around at the Metroplex Challenge and fifth in all-around at the Dynamo Classic and was the 2010 Westerns Floor Champion. Anderson is also a five-time regional qualifier and two-time Westerns National qualifier. Anderson is a member of Metroplex Gymnastics.

Smith makes her way to Centenary from Decatur, Miss., and Newton County Academy. Smith was the 2009 Alabama State Champion and 2010 Bama Rama Floor Champion. Smith is also a three-time regional qualifier.  Smith is a member of Bama Bounders.

Centenary finished its 2013 campaign with a third place finish at the USA Gymnastics National Championships.
