2013-14 Men's Hoops schedule released

Shreveport, La. – There might not be a better way to open up a season then at home, but there may not be one better than opening at home against your cross-town rival, the first of three home affairs to begin the season. The Centenary men's basketball team opens the season on Nov. 19 against rival LSU Shreveport before hosting East Texas Baptist and Louisiana College on Nov. 21 and 23 respectively. The trio of home games is part of 12 contests inside the Gold Dome.

“We are happy to have three, consecutive, home games to open the season and five of the first seven as we are enter into our second year in the SCAC. Two of our first three to open the season are against are cross-town rival, LSUS, and Louisiana College," said head coach Adam Walsh. "I believe our non-conference schedule will help us get where we want to be this season and that is competing for a conference championship and a winning record.”

The December portion of the schedule features a pair of home outings sandwiched between road contests against LeTourneau on Dec. 2 and Hendrix on Dec. 31. Centenary hosts Austin College on Dec. 6 and Open Bible College on Dec. 14.

The Maroon and White open the 2014 part of the ledger at the Millsaps Tournament in Jackson, Miss., the tourney marks the first of seven road games. Centenary squares off with four, Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference opponents during the span along with a non-conference outing against Rhodes on Jan. 6.

Shreveport’s team returns to the Gold Dome on Jan. 24 for the first of two meetings with SCAC newcomers Texas Lutheran and Schreiner, respectively before taking back to the road to end the first month of 2014 against the Bulldogs of TLU for the second time.

Five, consecutive, home dates round out the regular season. The Gents host conference foes Trinity, Southwestern, Dallas and Colorado College along with the second meeting of the season with Open Bible College. SCAC, road outings sit on either side of the season-long homestand with trips to Schreiner and Austin College.
