Wright joins women's hoops staff

SHREVEPORT, La. – The Centenary women’s basketball program and head coach Kristen Davis announce that Anna Cate Wright joins the staff for the 2013-14 season. Wright joins the staff as a volunteer assistant after coaching at Calvary Baptist Academy in Shreveport, La.

"I am thrilled that Anna Cate is joining our Centenary women's basketball family,” said Davis. “I have seen Anna Cate's work ethic as a player and I'm looking forward to experiencing that from the coaching side."

Wright and Davis’ connection treks back to their playing days at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, La., where Wright earned a Bachelors of Science in Health and Physical Education in 2010. During her playing days at NSU, the Many High School product was a first team All-Southland Conference Academic Team selection and was also named to the SLC Commissioner’s Honor Roll.

After her playing days with the Lady Demons, Wright was a student teacher and coach at Stanley High School in Logansport, La., where she taught physical education and coached the junior high and varsity girl’s basketball team.

Wright was a member of back-to-back state champion teams at Many High School while earning numerous accolades, including all-state, all-CENLA, all-district and all-parish honors.

Wright is married to former Centenary baseball player Dustin and the couple has a son.
