Davis announces additions for 2013-14 season

SHREVEPORT, La. – Centenary women’s basketball coach Kristen Davis announced that Haley Deshautelle, Linda Gomez Gil, Lizzie Moran, Katy Doyle and DeiAnna Hall have completed the necessary paperwork and deposit with intent to attend Centenary College of Louisiana.

"I really excited about our 2013 freshmen class,” said Davis. “All five of the newcomers are guards that will help increase the speed and pace of our style of play. Each one has characteristics and talents that will fit nicely with our returning players."

Moran, a two, sport athlete at Negreet High School, was a three-time, all-district, all-parish and all-state performer for the Lady Indians’ program. During her final three seasons at NHS, Moran led the team in numerous categories, including scoring and three-point percentage all three years. During her final season for Elton Savell, she also led the squad in steals and rebounds.

Doyle helped guide Plainview High School to the state tournament four, straight seasons, including a Class C State Championship in 2010. Doyle was a four-time, all-district performer, including district MVP her senior season. During her final season at PHS, she was also tabbed All-CENLA, all-state and academic all-state.

Gomez Gil comes to Shreveport from Mandeville, La., where she was an all-district and Most Valuable Player for Tracy Charles’ Lakeshore High School program. Gomez Gil helped guide LHS to a 4A State Championship.

Deshautelle joins the squad after a successful career at Pineville High School. The guard was an all-district performer for coach Tiffany Edmondson.

Hall played for Lorrie Guimbellot at Neville High School in Monroe, La., where she was an all-district performer.

Also joining the 2013-14 squad are Ladies volleyball players Sarah Sumner and Lindsey Bruce. The duo will join the team following volleyball season.

"Sarah and Lindsey are great additions to our team as they will add some much need height in the post position," Davis stated.

Centenary opens the season on Saturday, Nov. 16 at the University of Texas at Tyler. Tip-off is slated for 1 p.m.
