Lugo named SAL Pitcher of the Week

Savannah, Ga. – Former Centenary baseball standout and current Savannah Sand Gnats, Seth Lugo, has been named the South Atlantic League Pitcher of the Week for the week of August 5-11.

Lugo pitched seven scoreless innings on August 10 versus the Hickory Crawdads while striking out 11 and allowing only four hits. In the win, he improved his record to 3-4 on the season paired with a 0.69 ERA.

The Bossier City, La., native tossed six innings in a no decision in his Sand Gnats debut in Greenville (S.C.) on Aug. 4. Lugo surrendered just one run on a pair of hits in the effort.

Lugo joined the Sand Gnats roster from Brooklyn on August 3. During his time with the Cyclones, he went 2-4 with a 4.19 ERA.

The right-hander was acquired by the New York Mets organization in the 34th Round of the 2011 First-Year Player Draft.

Lugo pitched three seasons for the Gents. In his final season in the Maroon and White, he logged a 72.2 innings on the mound while striking out 70 batters. In his three season, Lugo pitched 150.2 innings with 137 career strikeouts and an 8-13 record with four saves.
