SHREVEPORT, La. – Fresh off a pair of wins last week and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, the Centenary women’s soccer team takes to the pitch on Wednesday, Sept. 11 in the SCAC opener against Austin College. The match is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Mayo Field.

The Ladies logged shutout wins at Louisiana College and Wiley College helping midfielder Amanda Atwell and goalkeeper Erica Coker earn SCAC weekly awards.

Atwell scored two of the Ladies four goals over the week, including the game-winner against Louisiana College. The Fort Worth, Texas, native’s goal against LC secured the first win of the season for the Maroon and White. Her goal against Wiley provided insurance in a 3-0 blanking of the Wildcats. Atwell took nine shots on the week, including five on goal (.556). The midfielder’s two goals and nine shots lead the team.

Coker continues to shine in net garnering both wins in goal for Centenary. Coker recorded six saves in both shutouts (solo and combined) for the Ladies. On the season, the Frisco, Texas, product has tallied 17 saves en route to an 89.5-save percentage.

Madison Alexander and Madeline Stokes have assisted on three of the Maroon and White’s goals this season. Alexander leads the way with two assists paired with a goal on the campaign. Stokes has one assist on the year. Kalie Hughes and Justine Russell have the two remaining goals on the season.

AC enters the conference tilt riding a two-game skid. The Roos (1-3) lone win came in an 11-0 blanking of LeTourneau on Sept. 3. Mandi Sherwood leads the team with three goals while Cami Mavelian has assisted on three goals this season. Franchesca Lozova is 1-1 in goal for Roos allowing four goals along with six saves.

Following the SCAC lid lifter, Centenary returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 14 with a 4 p.m. contest at Hendrix College. The match is the first of two against the Warriors on the weekend.
