SHREVEPORT, La. – Fresh off claiming the top seed in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament and a runner-up finish, the Centenary baseball team has announced its 2014 schedule.

“I think the schedule will test us early as we play multiple top 25 Division III and top 25 NAIA opponents,” said Centenary skipper and 2013 SCAC Co-Coach of the Year Mike Diaz. “Our schedule will definitely prepare us to meet our goal of repeating as regular season conference champions.”

The Gents open the 2014 slate with eight of their first nine contests on road, including a season opener at East Texas Baptist on Feb. 7. The Maroon and White’s home opener comes two days later against ETBU on Feb. 9. During the stretch, Centenary travels to Jarvis Christian and has four outings in two days at the University of Texas at Tyler.

Diaz’s squad opens SCAC play on Feb. 21 as the Gents host Dallas in a three-game series that concludes with a doubleheader on Feb. 22. The three-game series is one of four, conference series at Shehee this season, including contests against Southwestern (Mar. 21-22), Austin College (Apr. 11-12) and Trinity (Apr. 18-19).

The Gents will make conference road trips to Trinity (Feb. 28-Mar. 1) and Dallas (Mar. 14-15) along with SCAC newcomers Schreiner (Mar. 28-29) and Texas Lutheran (Apr. 4-5).

Mixed into the slate are non-conference outings with Texas College (Mar. 4) and LeTourneau (Mar. 11). The Gents have three outings with cross-town foe Louisiana State University-Shreveport, including a home affair on Mar. 25. The Maroon and White travel to the Pilots on Feb. 25 and Apr. 22.
