SHREVEPORT, La. – After a successful 2013 season that concluded with the Centenary gymnastics team finishing third at the USA Gymnastics National Championships, head coach Jackie Fain has released the 2014 schedule that features LSU and Illinois, that finished the season nationally ranked last season.

The meet in Baton Rouge is scheduled for Jan. 10 with the Ladies traveling to Champaign, Ill., on Jan. 18.

"We are very excited about our competition schedule this year.  We will be competing against some top teams in the NCAA; LSU finished the year last year ranked 5th and Illinois was 11th.  We meet those two teams right out of the chute in January.  It will be a challenge for us, but I believe it will give us the motivation to be ready to go early in the season," said the Midwest Independent Conference Coach of the Year.

The Ladies meet a pair of MIC foes in February, beginning with the first of two meets at Texas Woman’s on the 9th. Centenary returns to Denton, Texas, on the 23rd for a tri-meet against the Pioneers and Southeast Missouri State. The Maroon and White host SEMO on the 21st in the lone, home meet on the slate.

"As we move into the middle of our season we will be meeting with some of our conference foes.  I am hoping our tough road schedule in January will prepare us to go in and have a chance to come out on top of our Division I and II conference rivals, stated Fain

"Unfortunately we only have one home meet this year; Feb. 21.  This will be our senior night and we will be honoring our three seniors; Robyn Price who is a three-time All-American and a three-time all-conference athlete, Tawnee Hadd who has been a mainstay for us on beam and floor for the last three years, and Christine Langston who is hoping to finish her collegiate career with a banner season."

A non-conference meet at New Hampshire is also slated for Feb. 15th.

Centenary concludes its regular season at Fain’s alma mater, the University of Kentucky on Mar. 7.

The MIC Championships are slated for Mar. 22 in Bloomington, Ill., with the NCAA Regionals scheduled for Apr. 5 in Baton Rouge. The USA Gymnastics Nationals Championships are marked for Apr. 11-13 in Providence, R.I.
