Strickler, Balthazar tied for fifth at UMHB Invite; Gents seventh

GEORGETOWN, Texas – The Centenary men’s golf team shot 307 on the first day of the University of Mary Hardin Baylor Fall Invitational. The first day total has the Gents in seventh place.

Hank Strickler and Larry Balthazar each fired a 72 in the opening round to sit in a tie for fifth place after the first day. Jamie Gibson is tied for 45th after a first day score of 81. Reese Chance shot an 82 to sit in 48th after the opening round while Arni Sigurdsson rounds out the Gents with a 91 to place him in 61st.

Texas Junior College leads in the team standings with a 284 while Northwood University is 12 strokes back in second place. The host Crusaders are third with a first day score of 298. The Gents are four strokes back of Hardin-Simmons, which is fourth, and a stroke back of UHMB-Gold and Texas A&M-Texarkana.

TAMU-Texarkana’s Brandon Rougeau posted a 67 to pace the individuals.

The UMHB Fall Invitational concludes on Tuesday.
