Gents ninth after first day at Al Jones Memorial Invitational

TYLER, Texas – The Centenary men’s golf team sits in ninth after the first day of the Al Jones Memorial Invitational at Cascades Country Club. The Gents fired a 313 and sit four strokes back of Concordia (TX) University in eighth.

Hank Strickler and Jamie Gibson lead the way for the Maroon and White as each shot a 77 on the first day to sit in a tie for 30th. Reese Chance is two strokes back of the duo in a tie for 40th while Arni Sigurdsson is tied for 46th after a first day score of 80. Larry Balthazar rounds out the Gents in a tie for 48th with a score of 81.

Trinity and UT-Tyler B lead the pack with a 292 while Mary Hardin-Baylor is one stroke back in third.

UTT B’s Charley Graves is one under par after the first day to lead the individuals. UT-Dallas’ Ryan Bell, Kalen Vos of Trinity and Robby Schimmels from UMHB are tied for second at even par.
