SHREVEPORT, La. – The Centenary men’s soccer team was downed 3-1 by Schreiner on Sunday afternoon in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference action. The Gents move to 0-12 and 0-6 in conference play. SU claims its first victory of the season and is 1-4-2 in league play.

The Mountaineers placed two goals on the board in the first half and held the advantage at the intermission. SU posted 14 of its 25 shots in the first half.

Kellan Klaus scored the lone Gents goal early in the second half. The score was the second of the season for the Lake Charles, La., native, who now leads the team in goals.

Rylan Whan (0-3) warned off 11 shots in the effort.

Ryan Hernandez and Fernando Albiter each logged a goal and an assist in the contest for the Mountaineers. Luis Santos also logged a goal in the decision.

Blake Lawson received the win in goal with two saves against the six Centenary shots.

Centenary returns to action on Friday, Oct. 11 as the Gents travel to Texas Lutheran. Match time is scheduled for 3 p.m.
