Sumner named Centenary Student-Athlete of the Week

SHREVEPORT, La. – Centenary volleyball player Sarah Sumner was named the Centenary Student-Athlete of the Week.

Sumner logged a pair of doubles-doubles on the week to help lead the Ladies to a 1-1 mark. Sumner led the Ladies with 32 kills and was second on the team with 30 digs. Sumner logged double-doubles in both outings with 13 kills and 14 digs against East Texas Baptist and followed it up with 19 kills and 16 digs in the win over the Yellowjackets. The Arlington, Texas, native also recorded six aces.

Fans are encouraged to cast votes at facebook.com/gocentenary every Monday. The student-athlete receiving the majority vote will calculate as 25% of the overall vote with the winner announced on Tuesday afternoon.

Volleyball returns to action on Tuesday, Oct. 8 as the Ladies host the University of Texas-Tyler at 6 p.m.
