KERRVILLE, Texas – A Natalie Requenez goal in the 95th minute provided the difference as the Centenary women’s soccer team fell 2-1 in overtime at Schreiner University. The setback sends the Ladies to 3-10-2 and 1-7 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.

After a scoreless 45 minutes to open the contest, Carly Slovensky posted her sixth goal of the season. The score came in the 51st minute and gave the Ladies a 1-0 advantage. Slovensky took three shots in the contest and tied with Kalie Hughes for the team lead as the duo combined for six of the Maroon and White’s eight shots.

The lead held until the 80th minute when Gabrielle Watson knotted the score at 1-all eventually forcing the game into overtime. SU attempted eight shots in the contest with half coming off the foot of Watson.

Lauren Cullen in her first start of the season took the loss in net for the Ladies. Cullen tallied a season-high, five saves against the two goals allowed.

Lizeth De La Torre picked up the win for the Mountaineers with a trio saves against the lone, Slovensky score.

Centenary returns to action on Friday, Oct. 18 as the Ladies host Trinity at 6 p.m. The event is part of the SCAC’s 8in8 promotional tour.
