Strickler in fifth; Gents sixth after first day of Millsaps Collegiate

JACKSON, Miss. – The Centenary men’s golf team sits in sixth place after the first round of the Millsaps Collegiate with a score of 314. Hank Strickler leads the Gents with a score of 73 good enough for fifth place among the individuals.

Centenary is four strokes back of the host Majors and seven strokes back of Belhaven in third place.

Reese Chance is tied for 15th after a first day total of 78 while Jamie Gibson is tied for 33rd with an 80 following the first day of competition. Larry Balthazar and Arni Sigurdsson are in a four-way for 48th with a score of 83 each.

Christopher Cates, competing as an individual, is 67th with a score of 93.

Cumberland University leads the teams with a score of 295 – just seven over par for the first day with Blue Mountain College in second with a score of 305. BMU’s Adam Hall shot three under to pace the individuals with a score of 69 with CU’s Austin Garrett one stroke back in second place and Cody Reiber from Belhaven in third a with 71.
