SHERMAN, Texas – The Centenary volleyball team dropped a pair of hard-fought contests on Sunday afternoon in the final day of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Cross-Divisional. The Ladies fell in straight sets to Southwestern (25-20, 25-7, 25-12) and Schreiner (26-24, 25-12, 25-18) to conclude conference action for the 2013 season.

Sarah Sumner led the Maroon and White offensively with 21 kills for the two matches and was second on the team in digs against Schreiner with 11. Chelsea Petska tallied 26 digs in the two efforts with 14 against Schreiner and 12 against Southwestern – both marks standing as team-bests.

Beth Nuttall dished out a 47 assists in the matches, including all, but one in the setback to the Pirates. The lone senior on the team added 27 in the decision to Schreiner.

For the divisional, Sumner finished with 37 kills while Nuttall added 84 assists. Petska led the defensive effort with 47 digs for the four matches.

Olivia Drummond led the Southwestern with 13 kills with Lacey Strickland supplying 20 assists. Chandler Lentz added 12 digs to pace the Black and Gold.

Callie Du Perier provided a team-best 14 kills for Schreiner in the straight sets outcome with Jaemi Groves adding 24 assists. Jamie Burns led the Mountaineers defensively with 12 digs in the contest.

Centenary returns to action on Friday, Nov. 1 as the Ladies travel to Longview, Texas for three, non-conference contests. The slate opens at 3 p.m. against Rust College followed by a 7 p.m. outing against LeTourneau. The two-day events concludes at 4 p.m. against the University of Texas at Tyler.
