GymTalk: Casie Hood

Hey Ladies Gymnastics fans! This is sophomore Casie Hood coming to you this week with the latest news on the Centenary Gymnastics team!

This week was a very big week for the Ladies!

Last Thursday we met at the Captain Shreve track for our weekly morning conditioning. We have been really working hard to get our endurance and stamina up for this year’s competition season. While running around the track, pushing through our stadiums, and springing across the field we are becoming more like a “C Unit” each week!

On Saturday the Ladies took it to the bowling alley for some team bonding! We were split up into three teams, each team led by a senior, and all tried to bowl the highest team average! We had so much fun cheering for each other and dancing around to the music in between turns. We are all so competitive and were in it to win it. Congrats to Robyn’s team for winning and Ronni for bowling a 123 and Sylvia was right on her trail with a 122! We took that energy to the gym later and had an awesome practice!

Sunday was our first time this season showing routines in front of a judge! We had our meet hair and meet make-up and were ready to go! Our goal this year was to be routine ready early so we really pushed it hard to prepare for our first Judges Critique! On Vault we had four out of six twisting vaults! Way to go Vault Shakers! On Bars shout out to freshman A-Scates for pushing through an awesome bar routine! Beam is the hardest even to compete, but despite that the judge said beam is our best event; we work so hard on beam everyday in the gym. Our Floor Roars put together some routines with all three passes for the first time, and it was awesome!

Other Highlights this week was Junior Noel Stubbs moving her new series from the low beam to the high beam with only one mat under it! Sophomore Ronni Bear for putting her front pike mount on the high beam, which is an E!! Senior Christine Langston and Junior Natalie Humbert caught their bar mounts!

This year we have a lot to live up to after being THIRD IN THE NATION! I know we can definitely do it; we are showing so much potential as a team and working hard on putting routines together and gaining the consistency we need! Each and everyday we are doing what it takes and becoming one step closer to being deeper in our line-ups.

Tune into next week’s Gym Talk for more exciting news about your Ladies!

Happy Halloween!
